Hi.

In celebration of vegan junk food

In celebration of vegan junk food

One of the most common responses to people learning that I'm vegan is "OMG, what do you even eat?" or "I couldn't survive just eating rabbit food".  Fortunately for me (and unfortunately for my waist line) I live in a city full of places determined to allow vegans to clog their arteries every bit as effectively as carnists can.  My favourite of these has to be Doomies, out in Parkdale on Queen St. West.  I've been twice, the first time having their fried chicken burger and chips, which was absolutely delicious if a little too chicken-like for comfort.  The second time I went the whole hog, ordering their 'secret' item menu of the Mac Daddy - their take on the classic Big Mac with a side of cheesy chips.  I went with my Auntie and cousins, all meat-eaters and they were all seriously impressed.

Big shout-out to Hogtown Vegan, too - their seitan burger is absolutely delicious and their mac and cheese is to die for.
